What’s a living room without accessories?
Mundane.
Boring.
Plain vanilla.
I'm pretty sure nobody wants a space like that.
The good news is that nothing injects personality and some spunk into a living room like the right accessories, placed at the right spots (but placement is a conversation for another day).
Here are 7 must-haves for the modern living room:
1. Plants
Plants are the natural symbol for vibrant, lively, personalities. Plants breathe life into your space instantly and are a must-have for every modern living room - you just need to pick the right plant for your furniture and colours.
2. Comfy Throw Pillows
Throw pillows can be termed utilities, however, they really add some colour to the living room. Wondering why I call them utilities?
These little beauties are your go-to when your back needs extra support, or you want to take a power-nap and need a pillow to rest your head on.
3. Wall Art and Photographs
Wall art or photographs help you create a focal point in your living room. They also help create an air of class. And who knows, if you're lucky the image might just be worth a ton in the future.
4. A Coffee Table
With the right colour shade and design, your coffee table brings all the pieces of furniture together, helping balance out any jarring colours or pieces in your living room.
5. Mirrors
Mirrors are an elegant addition to any living room. They help brighten up the room, whilst creating a feeling of space/extra width due to its depth. They also make your living room look better because they reflect and create beauty.
6. A Comfortable Rug
A cozy, soft-textured rug is an interior decorators’ dream. Mind you, if you get one of these rugs for your living room, watch out for your visitors who just seem to stand on them for ages.
7. A Tray
And finally, the last piece of the puzzle; trays. This is one of the accessories that also serve as utilities. They have the ability to make a disparate group of objects such as your TV remotes, favourite magazines, etc. seem like a properly curated collection.
